Our Leadership Team Working for You
Kate Layman Director of Property Management
Kate leads the property management team with more than 15 years of operations and real estate management experience. Before joining Ruppert, Kate was with Avison Young – Washington DC, where she oversaw a diverse portfolio of approximately 1.5 million square feet of commercial property for national and local clients. In addition, she consulted on construction projects throughout their 10 million square foot regional portfolio. Kate currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Federated Charities of Frederick, an organization that supports the non-profit community through commercial property resources and community programs.
Brennan McMeeken Director of Finance
Brennan brings 10 years of commercial and residential real estate finance and accounting experience to Ruppert Properties. He is responsible for the company’s accounting and financial activities at both the property and asset level with a focus on financial reporting, investment analysis, lease administration and budget forecasting. Prior to joining the company, Brennan worked in finance and asset management roles for San Diego and Baltimore area developers. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from San Diego State University and Master of Business Administration from Frostburg State University.
Matthew Poffenbarger Director of Construction
Matt brings over 20 years of commercial construction experience to Ruppert Properties. His responsibilities include the overseeing and managing of new and existing tenant fit outs and new construction projects for the company as well as collaborating on new acquisitions. Prior to joining Ruppert Properties, Matt managed construction projects in building interiors and hospitality projects as well as ground up construction projects mostly in the Maryland, Virginia and DC area. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University and has lived in Frederick County his entire life supporting many local organizations.
Shawn Sullivan Chief Engineer
Shawn started his career in the HVAC trade, before transitioning to commercial property management where he worked for McShea Management and Avison Young – Washington DC for 15 years. There, Shawn served as Lead Engineer and was responsible for capital project supervision, energy efficiency programs, property preventive maintenance and general facilities management. With Ruppert, Shawn manages the engineering and maintenance team to deliver best practices in safety, maintenance and tenant satisfaction through the day-to-day operations of our facilities.
